Smart Start Weeks: 5 Consecutive Saturdays Starting 1/10

Off Days: Off Thanksgiving Week and 2 Week Christmas Break

VOLUNTEERING:

As we are run by volunteers, we will need additional volunteers to make the season a success. Please see the positions below that are available for volunteering. Please note that no team will have more than 2 coaches to help avoid stacking teams.

All age group enrollments are limited until we gain the volunteer coaches required, VOLUNTEER! Our biggest coaching needs are typically at the youngest ages (Smart Start and 6U) where the development goals are very simple, please step up! More about keeping it fun than basketball expertise at the earliest levels.

LWAA Refund Policy:
If requesting a cancellation prior to the close of registration, a refund will be issued less the $25 administration fee (family emergencies and injuries reviewed case by case). Requesting cancellation post registration, a refund of $25 will be issued per child due to the cost of admin fees, uniform costs and locking out other players from a spot on a team.

2026 LWAA Elite Basketball (Tryout Based Teams)

Cost:

Boys: Current program cost is estimated to be $550. This fee will change some based on total amount of kids that make the team, but shouldn't vary significantly.

Girls: Current program cost is estimated to be $200. This fee will change some based on total amount of kids that make the team, but shouldn't vary significantly.

Cost will also vary based on what tournaments are selected by your coach.

If the cost for this program is an issue, please reach out to discuss payment options.

We organize a free-throw fundraiser to help offset costs.

Concept:

The LWAA Elite Basketball Program is a competitive basketball program that involves travel for tournaments around the Charlotte Region. The goal of the program is to develop the players but to also have an emphasis on winning and growing as a team. Playing time is not guaranteed for any player, but our coaching staff does their best to get all players involved.

Tryouts:

Tryouts will be in the first half of February. Schedule will be updated as soon as it is determined.

Please note that younger kids can tryout for older teams.

Not every child that signs up will make the team. Returning players are not guaranteed a spot on the team. You will be notified after tryouts if you make the team.

Girls may tryout for boys teams.

We reserve the right not to offer a team for each grade if we don’t feel it will be a competitive team.

Coaches: We try to steer away from parent coaches, but some of the younger teams may have parent coaches if they are deemed to be a good fit. Parent coaches are not permitted for Grade 8 and above.

Practice:

Each team will plan to practice a minimum 1.5 hours per week . Boys start in February. Girls start in March.

Your team will normally have a consistent practice schedule and you will be made aware of the schedule prior to accepting your spot if you make the team. Coaches and teams are encouraged to have a secondary practice each week but depends on their availability. Be prepared to have joint practices with other teams.

If you can’t commit to attending 2/3 of practices then this program isn’t a fit for you.

5th Grade: 5:30-7:00 on Wednesdays

6th Grade: 5:30-7:00 on Mondays

7th Grade:: 7:00-8:30 on Mondays

8th Grade: 7:00-8:30 on Wednesdays

9th Grade: 7:00-8:30 on Tuesdays

10th Grade: 7:00-8:30 on Tuesdays

Group Trainings: Friday Nights and Weekends

Girls: (Likely to be on Thursdays)

Additional Costs:

Please note that the uniform cost and spectator attendance is not covered in the fee.

Basic uniform package includes two jerseys, two shorts for approximately $135.

The upgraded player package also has a shooter shirt and backpack for approximately $175.

A reversible jersey/short package can also be ordered for approximately $75 for a more affordable option, but they are heavier and some of the smaller players may not like.

Spectator fees can be up to $30 per adult per weekend depending on the tournament.

Age/Grade Verification:

Please be prepared to upload a copy of current report card and birth certificate so we can ensure they are placed on the correct team as some tournaments have guidelines for both.

Tournaments:

Boys teams should play in a minimum of 6 tournaments (13-20 games) and a maximum of 10 tournaments (30-35 games). Tournament will take place between March and the beginning of August.

Girls teams should play 3 tournaments. One each in April, May and June. (Approximately 10 games)

The potential tournament schedule is listed below. If you can’t commit to 2/3 of the tournaments then this program may not be for you. Please note that these may change but we plan to have it finalized by tryouts based on coach availability. I suggest signing up if you are interested and we can work thru potential conflicts.

Different teams may go to different tournaments.

For example:

Older teams won't play in July due to having heavy school ball schedules.

Younger teams may not play heavy in spring because of multisport overlap.
